Greetings from SMYBSA! We wanted to reach out and relay some important information that was given to us recently by the City of San Marcos. They have informed us that the Gary Softball Complex will be getting some much-needed renovations to help prevent the entry road from flooding, update the parking lots to allow the necessary emergency vehicles access and update the plumbing system to provide working facilities.

It's understandable that these renovations are necessary, the unfortunate part is that the construction time frame will be dependent on the contractor’s schedule. The schedule has not been determined to date, but we wanted to let you know that there is a high probability that this will impact our Softball and Baseball Spring 2024 season. It is too soon to know what the
impact will be exactly since we are waiting on a construction timeline from the city. We are anticipating an update late January or early February.

SMYBSA is determined to facilitate a Spring 2024 season and registration is currently open. With that said we wanted to be completely transparent in letting you know that the season may potentially look very different, and we will need patience as we navigate this. You are welcome to reach out with any questions, but we likely won’t be able to answer much until we hear back from the city.

On another note, we will be looking for volunteers to assist in the field repair at Ramon Lucio Park. The city is still working on getting cracks filled and we have offered to assist to help move things along. This Friday at 10:00 a.m. we will be meeting with the city at Lucio to get hands on instruction of their means and methods for repair (volunteers are welcome to join). SMYBSA will be
reaching out to you all in January to give a designated volunteer  date for the actual repairs.

Happy Holidays from SMYBSA
